SEMP | 1962

SEMP – Sociedade Eletro Mercantil Paulista. Founded in São Paulo in 1942 by Affonso Hennel, SEMP made the first 100% Brazilian radio. It kept pace with the times, going on to make record players, televisions and more.
In the 1970s SEMP partnered with Toshiba to create SEMP Toshiba, a successful alliance until 2016. It then formed a joint venture with China’s TCL, creating SEMP TCL.
