Freixenet | 1968

“Carta Nevada… presencia dorada”: Carta Nevada, a golden presence. In December 1968, Freixenet needed only a bottle, a white veil and a woman's hand with a jewelled bracelet.
Freixenet was born in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, near Barcelona, when Pedro Ferrer, nicknamed “Freixenet” after his family's estate, married Dolores Sala, heiress of a wine house; their first cava came out in 1914. Carta Nevada was launched in 1941 in a frosted bottle, hence the name “snowy”.
In Spain, cava and Christmas were becoming inseparable, and Freixenet's December campaigns would later turn into an institution.
Since 2018 Freixenet has been part of the German Henkell group.
