Singer | 1961

Vintage ad for Singer, 1961

Singer, more than 160 years of history. Created by American Isaac Merritt Singer in 1850 and patented a year later in the United States, the Singer sewing machine became a worldwide reference.

Singer has survived a radical change in society, one in which women no longer sew their own clothes, or the whole family’s, and few homes still have a sewing machine.

Always attentive to the market, Singer added household appliances to its range and used technology to keep modernising its machines.

It is interesting to compare this 1961 ad from the German magazine Constanze with the Singer ad from 1962 in the Brazilian magazine O Cruzeiro.
