Schinkenhäger | 1959

“Alle Tage Schinkenhäger macht Dich froher, macht Dich reger”: Schinkenhäger every day makes you happier, makes you livelier. In 1959, the stone bottle towers over a Westphalian village of half-timbered houses and a church.
Schinkenhäger is a Steinhäger, a juniper spirit from Steinhagen, near Bielefeld, made by the H.C. König distillery. The label shows “the well-known ham picture”: Schinken means ham.
Twenty years later the brand was still advertising the same idea, a table of bread and ham: see Schinkenhäger | 1979 in the archive.
A rhyme inviting people to drink spirits every day, to be happier and livelier, is something today's advertising rules for alcohol would not allow.
