Quaker Oats Company. In 1877 Henry D. Seymour and William Heston founded the Quaker Mill Company in Ohio to make rolled oats.
They innovated, created new products and invested in advertising and packaging, for example printing recipes on the boxes to encourage people to eat oats in different ways.
In 1901 the Quaker Mill Company merged with other millers, including the German Mills American Oatmeal Company of Ferdinand Schumacher, “the Oatmeal King”, to form the Quaker Oats Company.
In August 2001 Quaker Oats was acquired by PepsiCo.
