Konsum | 1955
Consumption under communism. In the former East Germany (GDR), consumption was controlled by the state through a network of cooperatives that distributed goods to the population. The best known was Konsum.
East Germans would say “I’m going to the Konsum”, just as we say “I’m going to the supermarket”.
This ad, published in Leipzig, sold drinks such as apple wine and currant wine for the 1955 carnival.
