Jeep | 1962

The history of the Jeep is tied to one of the darkest, bloodiest moments of modern history: the Second World War.
In the late 1930s the US Army asked manufacturers for a light, agile, manoeuvrable 4×4 able to carry cargo and passengers.
Willys-Overland won with the famous Jeep, produced from 1941 and used for everything during the war: carrying weapons and soldiers, as an ambulance and even in combat.
Today the Jeep brand belongs to the Stellantis group, which still makes new models.
In this 1962 ad, a Jeep pick-up carries a giraffe (no Photoshop back then) to show it could handle “difficult, tall, bulky and heavy loads”.

It has a chassis with 5 cross-members, reinforced bodywork and a steel bed. It makes many more deliveries, for years and years on end.
