In 1928 Pedro Santiago, a Puerto Rican of Spanish descent, acquired the rights to sell Toddy in South America and opened a factory in Buenos Aires.
On 15 March 1933 he obtained permission from Getúlio Vargas’s Provisional Government to sell it in Brazil, where the brand is still on sale today.
In 1981 Toddy was sold to the American company Quaker Oats, which became part of PepsiCo in 2001.
