Casas Pernambucanas | Anos 60

Fine fabrics, good and cheap. Founded by the sons of Swedish immigrant Herman Theodor Lundgren, Casas Pernambucanas opened in Recife on 25 September 1908.
Though founded by his sons, the business grew from Herman’s entrepreneurial spirit: for years he worked in various trades before acquiring, in 1904, the Companhia de Tecidos Paulista in the district of Olinda.
After his death in 1907, his heirs followed his path and a year later, naming the shops after the state of Pernambuco where it all began, started a success story that has lasted more than a century.
Here is a 1960s jingle advertising Casas Pernambucanas fabrics.
