Fábrica Palmeira | 1964

Círio de Nazaré. One of Brazil’s largest Catholic festivals takes place on the second Sunday of October in the streets of Belém, capital of Pará.
Known as the Christmas of Pará, for its religious appeal and the tradition of gathering families at home to eat duck in tucupi, this procession in honour of Our Lady of Nazareth has been held for more than 200 years.
Like any big event almost anywhere, it attracts advertising. At this time of year every medium is full of promotional and institutional ads.
This Fábrica Palmeira ad, from the 1964 Belém guide, is living proof that advertising at the Círio goes back a long way.
