50 months to pay. The ad for the Banna, one of Belém’s landmark buildings, offered payment in 50 instalments, plus 32 shops and an underground car park.
Another ad that shows how times, and society’s values, have changed.
The Banna is a living example of how the “modern construction” of the 1950s and 60s swept away the mansions and historic centres of many Brazilian cities. It still stands on today’s Avenida Magalhães Barata in Belém.
