Palmolive | 1953

Palm and olive: the two oils the B. J. Johnson Soap Company of Milwaukee used as the base for this soap in 1898, part of everyday life for millions of people ever since.
This ad appeared in November 1953 in the German magazine Hören und Sehen (Hear and See), which listed the radio programmes of the day. As usual, beauty and hygiene ads featured women or famous actresses. A 100 g bar cost 65 pfennigs, the same as a bar of Rexona in the same issue, and the copy explains the soap’s green colour: the natural chlorophyll of olive oil.
