Agfa Standard | 1930

“In 2 Minuten lernen Sie knipsen!”: learn to take snapshots in two minutes. In 1930, Agfa sold its Standard roll-film camera, 6 × 9 cm, with an Agfa Anastigmat f/4.5 lens, for 78 marks.
Agfa was founded in Berlin in 1867 as a dye company, and in 1925 it became part of the IG Farben group. By then it made films and its own cameras.
The pitch is about envy and joining in: “You no longer need to stand by idly when others show pretty photos.” The last line is a lesson in branding: never ask for “a film”, ask for “Agfa-Film!”
In 1964 Agfa merged with the Belgian Gevaert, and Agfa-Gevaert still exists today.
