Air France | 1935

Formed in 1933 from the merger of several French airlines, Air France soon reached Brazil, as this 1935 ad shows.
There are no passengers in it, only a letter. The route drawn on the map links Europe and South America, at a time when airmail was the main business of transatlantic routes. The address on Avenida Rio Branco was in central Rio de Janeiro, then Brazil’s capital.
Today Air France remains one of the major names in commercial aviation.
The ad ran in the magazine Ilustração Brasileira in 1935.
