“A calculator for everything”: that is how Friden advertised its new model in the United States in 1948.

The company was founded by Carl Friden in California in 1934 and became known for mechanical calculators like the “fully automatic” one in this ad. Machines that took up half a desk, and that any pocket calculator easily beats today.
