Boeing | 1982

Vintage ad for Boeing, 1982

Who hasn’t flown on a Boeing 747? Founded in Seattle in 1916 by William Edward Boeing, the American aerospace giant has never stopped innovating.

Its first aircraft, the B&W, a seaplane, flew the same year the company was founded. During the First World War the US Navy ordered 50 Boeing seaplanes.

From then on Boeing kept launching new models, surviving the industry’s many ups and downs for more than a century.

After losing market leadership to Europe’s Airbus in the 1990s, Boeing reacted by buying McDonnell Douglas in 1997, bringing the F-15 and F/A-18 fighters into its range.

The rivalry with Airbus continues to this day.

This 1982 Spanish ad shows the evolution of Boeing aircraft from the company’s founding to the date of the ad.
